Personal and social readiness
Students will know how to set educational goals, monitor progress toward achievement of those goals, and create relationships with peers and adults that support the achievement of those goals.
A student who has reached this goal can:
- Set and continually monitor progress toward reaching important goals
- Continually put the necessary time and effort into reaching important goals
- Take responsible risks to advance toward achieving important goals
- Accept, seek out and learn from honest feedback that helps improve progress toward important goals
- Seek help from adults and peers and use other strategies to overcome obstacles on the road to achieving important goals
- Manage time efficiently and effectively
- Know how to form and work effectively in study groups that help the student master challenging academic material
- Create and maintain positive relationships with teachers, professors and other adults in positions of responsibility and authority
- Understand college culture and describe how the student may need to adjust past practices and habits to succeed in higher education
