Standards for Admissions Readiness

A student who is admissions ready will have completed all requirements for admission to the type of postsecondary education that is a match for his or her goals, interests and abilities.

The Ramp-Up to Readiness Standards for admissions readiness will ensure that key steps toward this goal are met in each year of the Ramp-Up program.

Level 1: Understand

The student understands the different types of postsecondary institutions, their admissions requirements, and which types might be a good match for his/her interests and skills.

Level 2: Believe

The student believes that he or she will get into and graduate from a postsecondary institution that matches his or her interests and skills.

Lessons that support this standard

Level 3: Plan

The student creates an admissions plan that outlines the steps he or she will need to take to gain admission to the postsecondary institution(s) of his or her choice.

Lessons that support this standard

Level 4: Achieve

1. The student visits at least three postsecondary institutions. 2. The student practices writing effective admissions essays. 3. The student prepares for and takes the ACT and/or SAT. 4. The student applies to at least three postsecondary institutions.
